The Cross: Release.

Acts 13:38-39 says, “So listen, friends! Through this Jesus, the forgiveness of sins is offered to you. Everyone who believes in him is set free from sin and guilt—something the law of Moses had no power to do.”

Last week we looked at our relationship with our Heavenly Father. How it is so simple to start that relationship. We were once separated by sin but not anymore! Every sin ever committed or will be committed was nailed onto the cross.

See God had already spoken that the wages of sin is death. So our sins were punishable by death but Jesus came and took our place. He took the punishment which was meant for us on Himself and He paid the price for us so that instead of us having to die for our sins and be eternally separated from God, Jesus died for us instead so we could have life eternal and relationship with God.

Through Jesus, we are told, the forgiveness of sins is offered to us. The wording is very precise. We have this amazing offer to believe in Jesus and that all our sins, even the ones we hope no one ever finds out about, Jesus paid the price for them. The thing about an offer is that it remains an offer until such a time that either it is accepted or it expires. Unfortunately for many- this offer cannot be accepted past death.  Whilst we are still living, we must make the choice to accept or decline the offer of forgiveness.

If you choose to accept the offer then you must also choose to believe that you have been set free from sin and guilt. Sin no longer has the power to control your life. If you allow sin to persist in your life, it will ultimately bring death. You have been given power through Christ to be free from the power of sin, read Romans 6.

If there is an area where you have been allowing sin to fester, maybe today is the day you break free from that. The choice is yours and it’s a very simple choice. Choose to believe what the word of God says about you. Do not be weighed down by guilt and shame over sins which were already paid for. Look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith and choose to believe that your sins are forgiven and move forward in the power which He died to give you.

Put on the righteousness of Jesus. When you accept Jesus into your heart, God doesn’t see you as a sinner anymore. Instead He sees the righteousness of Jesus on you and how beautiful you are to Him! Everyone who believes in Jesus is released from sin and guilt. The blood of Jesus washes us as white as snow. Let us walk in newness of life in Him.

Love and Blessings,

Melissa Tsingano.
