John 17:3 says, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent”.
I love this verse. Jesus was quoted praying to the Father and He tells us exactly what eternal life is. Eternal life does not begin when we die and go to heaven. Eternal life starts when we begin to seek God that we may know Him. Eternal life starts when we chase after Jesus that we may dwell in His Presence daily and get to know who He is. Eternal life is knowing God. There is no beginning and no end to God. When we begin our journey with God and He begins to reveal to us who He really is, the only true God who sent Jesus Christ His Son to die for our sins, eternal life kicks in.
Isn’t it amazing that we have already started our journey with God now? {If you haven’t started your journey with God yet, don’t despair. Read our blog post titled, “An Open Invitation” to see how you can begin.} When we enter Heaven, it will just be a continuation of the love story that started long before we were even born and one that will continue forever.
Eternal life starts now. We get to know God when we spend time with God. You can’t know God based on someone else’s experiences. God is incredibly personal. He wants you to have your own encounters and experiences with Him. Read the Bible and ask God to make His word come alive in your heart. God’s word is powerful and the Bible is full of revelations of the character and the nature of God. Learn how to live your life in His Presence daily otherwise Heaven is going to be real awkward!
Have a blessed week!
Love, Mel.
