Attitude of gratitude.

Psalm 50:14-15 NLT says, “Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on Me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give Me glory”.

I once heard someone say that they make it a habit that if they pray for 2 weeks for something, when God brings it to pass, they spend 2 weeks thanking God for it. How many times do we show gratitude to God for what He is doing for us? Sometimes, we do not take the time to honour God and show Him our gratitude.

The part about promises got me. How many times have we made promises to God which we did not keep? “Oh, I’ll pray when I get home.” “I’ll have some quiet time with God after dinner.” Or, “If God answers this prayer I am going to put $100 in the offering this week”. We say these things but when it comes time for the follow through, we are forever full of excuses. God takes it seriously when we make promises to Him or when we say we are going to do something. He honours His word and He expects us to do likewise. Our word needs to count for something.

We need to be thankful at all times. We must keep our promises to God because He sure keeps His promises to us. When we do this, we can call on God and He will rescue us. Even when we feel like life could not get any worse, as a matter of fact it could but God is holding back the darkness and He will come to the rescue when we call on Him and trust Him in our time of trouble. May we forever give Him glory for all the times He has rescued us and all the times He will rescue us.

I pray that the Holy Spirit helps us to have an attitude of gratitude and prompts us to keep all our promises to God as we honour Him. Then we can be sure that God will rescue us in our day of trouble.

Love and blessings,

Mel.
