Peace, be still.

Psalms 46:10 TPT says, “Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God…”. Most of us know this verse as “Be still and know that I am God”.

Sometimes we condition ourselves to think that we will have peace when… I am anxious and stressed out now but I will be at peace once I finish this project. I am so scared but I will have peace when I get there. Peace is not in a destination nor does it rest in our accomplishments or in our ability to smash our goals.

I realised that the whole notion of having peace when something else happens is a work of the enemy. As soon as we get to the place where we thought we would have peace, we find we still do not have it. God’s peace is always for the present moment and not futuristic. Peace is for today, it is for right now.

Psalms 46:10 tells us to do four things that are designed to bring us peace.

1. Surrender our anxiety to God;

2. Be silent;

3. Stop striving; and

4. See that He is God.

When we put those four things together, we can rest easy knowing that our God sure is in control and everything will work out just fine.

Love and blessings
