Proverbs 3:3 says, “Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart“.
In some translations the word “kindness” is translated as “mercy”. How amazing is that, that being kind is synonymous to being merciful. Colossians 3:12 tells us to clothe ourselves with compassion and kindness and verse 13 goes on to say, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you”.
Being kind means to show mercy and compassion on others. To love people and forgive them when they wrong us. It is a heart condition not just a smiling face or a text full of x’s and o’s. Are you walking in kindness and mercy? Is there someone you need to forgive so you can freely move into your future with God?
If so, ask God to help you to forgive that person. Let go of the offence. Unforgiveness is a weight you carry. Rid yourself of the excess baggage and begin to experience the life God has for you, full of righteousness, joy and peace (Romans 14:17). Jesus promises us that His burden is light (see Matthew 11:30), but if we choose to walk in unforgiveness, everything becomes a whole lot heavier. Lose the baggage and travel light.
Therefore, let us be kind and merciful towards one another by forgiving each other “as quickly and as thoroughly as God in Christ forgave” us (see Ephesians 4:32 MSG).
Love and blessings!
