Last week I asked what you’d do differently if you believed what the Bible says about your heavenly Father and His thoughts towards you. Think about it for a moment. What would your life be like if you believed that the Omnipotent (all powerful), Omnipresent (everywhere present), Omniscient (all knowing) God, Creator of everything that exists was so enamoured by you and loves you so much He thought you were worth dying for?
I think we take the Bible lightly like it’s a beautiful love story written for someone who is not us and it is time we start believing that every word in it, was written just so we would read it and believe it. Romans 8:32 says, “For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his Son. And since God freely offered him up as the sacrifice for us all, he certainly won’t withhold from us anything else he has to give.” Ponder that for a second, there is nothing, absolutely nothing Papa God will withhold from you. His love for you is so deep and so complete that since He already gave you His Son, everything else is inferior and so easy for Him to give. He already gave the one thing that was hardest for Him to give. That is why the Bible invites us not to worry about our lives but commit them into God’s hands and trust Him to take care of us because He genuinely wants to take care of us.
Does that mean we quit our jobs and become lazy? No, the Bible never promotes laziness. However, it means we stop striving. We stop trying to prove ourselves to everyone. We stop losing sleep worrying about things that are much bigger than us and we give those things to our wonderful Father who cares for us.
We have been given this wonderful invitation into a relationship with Papa God where we can literally cast (throw) anything that worries us, stresses us, makes us anxious, at His feet. It may feel overwhelming to us, but it is so small and tiny in comparison to our Papa God. Even when it feels like everything is falling apart, we trust that our lives are in His hands and He knows how to put it all together. Maybe not quite the way it was, but the way it was meant to be.
Romans 8:33-35 goes on to say, “Who then would dare to accuse those whom God has chosen in love to be his? God himself is the judge who has issued his final verdict over them—“Not guilty!” Who then is left to condemn us? Certainly not Jesus, the Anointed One! For he gave his life for us, and even more than that, he has conquered death and is now risen, exalted, and enthroned by God at his right hand. So how could he possibly condemn us since he is continually praying for our triumph? Who could ever divorce us from the endless love of God’s Anointed One? Absolutely no one! For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish his love toward us. Troubles, pressures, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven’s love. What about persecutions, deprivations, dangers, and death threats? No, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love.”
When I am good, I am still my parents’ kid. When I am terrible and make mistakes, I am still their kid. My DNA does not change based on what I do or do not do. Once you have given your life to Jesus, you belong to God. You are His son or daughter. Your DNA does not change because you are having a bad day. God does not disown you because you have made some mistakes. He is still your loving Father, calling you to Himself. Nothing can separate you from the love of your Papa God.
Romans 8:38-39 says, “So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!”
So, knowing how much you are loved, what would you do differently in your life? I’d say start by inviting God in the places you think He is not interested in. Invite Him into the ugly places. Invite Him into the painful places. Invite Him into the dark places. Invite Him in the good places.
Yes, sometimes we are scared to invite God into the good places because we are scared He will take it away or make us give it up. But Psalms 84:11 says, “For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” So if God is asking you to give something up or let it go, it’s because it is not good for you. Also He will give you grace to do what He asks and the end result will be glory. The things we try to hold on to, they may seem good now but we don’t see everything the way God does or know everything the way He does. So how about we trust Him and rest in His love for us?
