Look around.

We were talking about fear and anxiety last few weeks and what we can do to let the peace of God in. We finished off talking about faith and how we can take God at His word. God says what He means and He means what He says.

Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” God will never leave us nor forsake us. I once heard someone say that when the verse says God will never leave us, it’s talking about a physical abandonment and when it says forsake its talking about emotional and spiritual abandonment. God will never leave you stranded. He is always making a way.

Question is, can you see God in the middle of your trial? Psalm 23:4 says, “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” When life is happening and we are in the thick of it, it is easy to focus on the darkness. To focus on our circumstances so much that we stop seeing God, but our verse says God is close beside not a far way off.

We have a God who is not afraid of the dark. If you are going through a dark or difficult spot, God is right there with you. If you are feeling all alone, look again, God is all around you. He is with you. He is in that nurse who wits with you in your room to make sure you are ok. He is in that person going out of their way to see if they can help you. He is in that person who smiled at you or said hello. God is always leaving us little reminders that He sees us so that we can stop long enough to realise that not only does He see us, He is with us. When we know God is with us, we have no reason to fear. The all powerful all mighty God is with us so we can stop hiding and move boldly towards our future because we know our future is secure in Him.

Another question is can you see God in the middle of your waiting? Sometimes we find ourselves in waiting seasons. Where nothing much seems to be happening but we have a God who is always moving, who is always working. Can you see God in your waiting? If you are waiting for an opportunity for a new job, can you see God working to prepare you for that new role where you are now?

If you are waiting to meet the right person to get married to can you see God working in you to produce good godly character that will be a treasure in your relationship? As you are waiting for financial breakthrough, can you see God making a way for you, bringing people your way to bless you? God is in the middle of your waiting so be encouraged in your waiting and don’t lose heart.

There is a song that says, “Open the eyes of my heart Lord, I want to see you.” That should be our prayer in every situation, good or bad. God help me to see You. Because for some they see God in the bad times but forget about Him in the good times. God is in the valley but He is also on the mountain top.

If there is an area where you are not seeing God, pray and ask God to open the eyes of your heart so you may see Him. God is with you. His word is true. He will never leave you nor forsake you, come what may. Good or bad.

Love and blessings
