Follow Him

Last week we were looking at FOMO from the perspective of starting our new life with Jesus. This week we are going to look at this concept of missing what God has for you. Do you ever feel like you have the call of God on your life but somehow you are going to miss it?

The fear of missing what God has for me ran my life for a wee while and it is a tyrant. I felt this pressure on the inside to always push harder, work harder, do more, you are not doing enough, serve better, do better… It was exhausting. Now when I hear those thoughts I can definitely say, “That ain’t Jesus!” But when I was going through it, I wasn’t sure. It was more like, “Jesus is that You?” No, it’s not! Lol. Don’t listen to that voice.

I remember sitting in a meeting one day and hearing my pastor Esther say, “The Holy Spirit leads, the enemy drives.” There is a difference between those two things. Leading is done from the front and Jesus asks us to follow Him (Luke 9:23). We have a choice and it’s a decision to follow. The enemy drives us like cattle on a field. He pushes us into corners we can’t get out of and we find ourselves in a cycle of anxiety that all the promises God has for us, we are going to miss them because we are doing everything wrong. No wonder the enemy is called the father of lies (John 8:44). He is a liar!

I am here today, to tell you that for as long as you are living in the will of God, you are not going to miss a thing. God will in fact lead you on the path that leads to all that He has for you. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of the God-pursuing ones follow firmly in the footsteps of the Lord, and God delights in every step they take to follow him.

How awesome is that! For as long as we keep following Him, we will be all good. And God delights in every step we take to follow Him! He is not in your ear telling you how you are going to miss it. He is whispering to your heart saying, “All My promises are yes and amen, follow Me.” Just keep following Jesus, just keep pursuing Him and shut down the lying voice that keeps telling you are going to miss what God has for you.

All you need to do is follow Jesus and He will make sure that whatever He has for you will be along the path as you keep following Him. Whatever He has called you to, He will lead you into it. I remember hearing Bishop TD Jakes talk about this concept of “stumbling into destiny”. The only way you stumble into something is if it’s in your way.

We don’t go out looking for destiny or what God has called us to or His promises and try to make them happen in our own strength. We wait on Him. God will put those things in our path as we follow Him. You do not need to strive. Keep walking, keep following, keep doing what He is asking you to do in every season. He’s got you covered and He delights in every single step you take to follow Him.

Love and blessings,

Melissa Tsingano.
