For unto us a child is born!
Isaiah 9:6 says, “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”.
What a beautiful blessing God bestowed on the world when He gave us His Son Jesus some 2000 years ago. I think sometimes we don’t see the gravity of what God did on the day when Jesus was born. God the Creator of the universe stooped down below and took on human form so He could walk and live among His creation. He had one mission which was to show us the Father’s love for us all the way to the cross.
Jesus was born into our world to show us that God was not hostile towards us. John 14:9, “…Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!” Jesus was the perfect image of our Father.
Jesus showed the people around Him nothing but love, forgiveness, willingness to heal and provide and availability. He showed us the Father and He showed us His heart. It all began with Jesus being born in a lowly place on that glorious day when heaven kissed Earth in a moment of divine appointment.
Can you imagine baby Jesus taking His first breath and opening His eyes? God wanted to have the full human experience so He could better understand us and better relate to us. Compassionate and kind as He is, He still wanted to give us more so He embarked on an Earth journey which began in a stable. As glorious and majestic as He is, God removed His heavenly robes of splendor and put on flesh as He humbled Himself to be with us, to be Immanuel- God with us.
Let us not forget what Christmas is all about. Tomorrow as we celebrate Christmas, let us turn our hearts towards God and thank Him for the best gift this world has ever received, Jesus. It was not easy for the Father to give His Son to us but He thought it necessary for you and I to be able to have a relationship with Him. Let us remember to show our gratitude and love on Jesus this Christmas.
Have a blessed Christmas and a glorious 2018!
