I N S C R I B E Hebrews 8:10 part 4/5

Passion Translation, Hebrews 8:10: “For here is the covenant I will one day establish with the people of Israel: I will embed my laws within their thoughts, and fasten them onto their hearts. I will be their loyal God and they will be My loyal people”.

God continues on and says, “I will be their loyal God”.

The fact that God wants to be MY God, fills me with so much joy! Then He not only said He wants to be our God, He wants to be our LOYAL God, how amazing is that? We are told countless times in the Bible that God is faithful. So He did not need to say it in this verse that He would be loyal to us. One thing I know is that God does not just throw words around. There is always meaning and a deep intention. So why would He remind us in this verse that He will be loyal or faithful? Because inscription takes time and commitment. He is saying, I will not give up on you. Day by day I will continue to inscribe in you. I will continue to teach you my ways, I will continue to embed my principles in your thoughts as your mind is renewed. He is saying He is in this, for the long haul.

Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns”. Depending on when Christ returns that is a fairly long commitment given that this verse was penned about 2000 years ago. God is not leaving it up to chance what happens to us. He has already declared that He will be loyal to us. In verse 9 God spoke about how He had the old covenant with Israel and they did not keep it so He turned His back on them because of their disobedience and their hardened hearts. In verse 10 He brings a shift, He says that was the old covenant with this new covenant I am talking about, I will be their loyal God. In other words, I will not turn my back on them. In other words, I will not leave you or forsake you! (see Deuteronomy 31:6) That is awesome news for me because I do not always get it right but I know God is here to stay.

Be blessed

Final part is coming tomorrow, I hope you have been enjoying meditating on this verse these last two weeks.
