Supernaturally natural: The black jacket.

I am always amazed at how God operates. He has His own way of doing things that sometimes doesn’t make sense to us but it makes perfect sense to Him. Like how is it possible that one declaration with your mouth and belief in your heart that Jesus is Lord changes the whole trajectory of your life all the way to eternity? One moment. We may not even notice a physical difference. If you had bad hair before the salvation prayer, you’ll still have bad hair after the prayer. Nothing magical happens externally but internally we are told that our spirit man comes alive.

Salvation is a wonderful example of something natural and simple which brings about a supernatural result. I think most times when we think about the good things God has done for us, we think about big problems that He solved. But God is in our everyday. He is in every single moment. He is waiting for us to notice Him. To see Him. To feel and acknowledge His Presence in our lives.

I was in a Christian book store recently and I noticed there are so many books around the theme of “God where are You?” Often times we look for God in all the big things that we miss Him in the little things. To see God in the big things, we must first be able to see Him in the seemingly little things. In this series, we are going to look at the miracles that changed many lives in the Bible and really look at how simple and natural the human part was and the supernatural result that came about. Miracles are not far away. God is not far away. Our faith in the miracle working God releases the miraculous in our lives.

I’ll kick us off with a personal story which happened at the Boxing Day Sales of 2018. In Australia, Boxing Day is a big day for shoppers. All the things that did not sell before Christmas go on sale and it is an awesome time to buy those things that are otherwise pricey throughout the year.

I was so excited for Boxing Day Sales this year, so much so that I could not sleep. I woke up at 4:00am in anticipation for all the money I was going to save (not spend lol). Went to the mall around 7 am but it was already packed, lines were already protruding outside of shops. I did my rounds then finally made one last stop to buy a work jacket. Found the perfect jacket in this shop. It was the last one of its kind and it was in my size and it was reduced to less than half price! I was super excited. The line for the changing room was too long so I just tried it on in front of one of the mirrors and it looked good. I went to pay for it then realised that the line to pay for stuff was winding around this big shop and leading all the way towards to door. I was tired and over the lines and I had not had coffee and it was lunch time. I gave up and put the jacket down and walked out and went home.

Later that day, I needed something from the mall so thought I’d heard down. As I walked past the same shop I realised it was still open but I thought it was pointless going in hours later to find the one last jacket of a kind I had left earlier on. So I continued on where I needed to go. On my way back home I walked past the shop again and this time without thinking I walked in. I looked for the jacket where I found it in the morning and it wasn’t there. I looked where I left it and it wasn’t there either. I looked around the shop and there were no other jackets like it anywhere. I turned to leave the shop and as I walked past the very place I had looked moments prior, right where I had found it in the morning and there it was. Sitting right in the front. The same jacket, one of its kind, same size. It must have been left in the changing room and had just been returned to its place, I’m not sure. All I know is that the jacket had my name on it and God kept it for me.

What I am trying to say is God’s ways are supernaturally natural. How God managed to make sure no-one else bought it through out the day, I do not know. But I do know that it blessed my heart to know that God was looking out for me. In the same way and in ways that may go unnoticed, God is looking out for you too. We just need to open our eyes and look for God everywhere we go. Shopping, eating out, going to work, job interviews, pay rise negotiations, raising kids, navigating marriage- He is in it all. He is supernaturally natural. Miracles are all around us.

Love and blessings,

Melissa Tsingano.
