Crazy Thoughts.

What are you thinking today? Our thoughts sometimes have a mind of their own. Have you ever caught a crazy thought that just somewhat found its way into your brain and you think, “I don’t think like that”? That happens to me all the time. Crazy thoughts enter my brain and I am not even sure how they got there. Sometimes I try to retrace my steps. Was it from a movie or a series I watched? Usually it has something to do with that. That is why we are to be so careful what we expose ourselves to. The books we read, the movies or series we watch or the music we listen to. Our subconscious brain is like a sponge, it soaks up things and they come up at the most unexpected times.

So, what does the word of God say about our thoughts? Philippians 4:18 says, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise”. When our thoughts start to go crazy, it is our responsibility to reel them in and say, “No, I am not going to think about that” and we change the channel. Yes, it is possible to change the channel of your thoughts. Think about something true, honourable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and/or praise-worthy. Our lives gravitate in the direction of our thoughts. Therefore, if our thoughts are not aligned with the word of God, our lives will not gravitate towards God. Instead they will move us further and further away from Him.

Let us take the reins and control our thought lives. One thought at a time. Let us do what 2 Corinthians 10:5 says and “demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”. If we learn to do this one thought at a time, soon we will transform our thought lives and we will be thinking in the way we were encouraged to think in our verse from Philippians 4:18.

Have a blessed week.
