Highway of light

Last week we talked about waiting in lines and switching lines and I asked this question; which one of the following people are you:

  1. If the line you left starts to move faster, you want to quickly switch back.
  2. It would be frustrating for you and may even make you a little angry if the line you left moved faster and the people who were once behind you are served before you reach the front of the line you are now in; or
  3. It does not matter either way. You have now committed to this line, and it will take however long it takes to get to the front and that’s ok?

The person in A reminds me of James 1:5-8 which says, “And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace. Just make sure you ask empowered by confident faith without doubting that you will receive. For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next.

Being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed down the next. When you are half-hearted and wavering it leaves you unstable. Can you really expect to receive anything from the Lord when you’re in that condition? When you are half-hearted and wavering it leaves you unstable. Can you really expect to receive anything from the Lord when you’re in that condition?

How many times have we allowed our thoughts to run crazy and make us doubt whether we heard from God and make us go back to or stay in places, relationships, situations that God asked us to leave? I believe in 2026, God wants us to be grounded and stable people. He does not want us looking to the right or to the left or comparing ourselves with each other. He wants us solely focused on Him.

Have you ever been upset at God because you felt like your life wasn’t where it was meant to be? The person in B is like that. They feel like they are a victim of their circumstances and are fixated on what is happening in other people’s lives who seem to be “making it”. So much so that they miss what God is doing in their life. When we live life this way it makes us bitter. God does not want us going into 2026 bitter. If there is any bitterness in you or a victim mindset, you need to make a decision today that that was 2025 you, it is in the past and you will not let that be 2026 you. Repent and let it go.

Ephesians 4:30-32 says, “And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

The person in C is who we aspire to be. Content. Unbothered by surrounding circumstances. Full of quiet trust that they are exactly where God wants them to be and they will not miss out on anything because they trust in God’s faithfulness. Let us learn to do things God’s way in 2026 and trust Him completely.

Proverbs 4:18 says, “But the lovers of God walk on the highway of light, and their way shines brighter and brighter until the perfect day.”

Love and blessings,
