All Knowing

We make on average 35,000 decisions in a day. Some conscious others subconscious. That is a lot of decisions. Think about it, from the moment our alarm goes off in the morning we are deciding, “Do I get up now or snooze?” “How much time do I have to shower?” “Wash my hair, don’t wash my hair?” “What’s the weather like, what do I wear?” “What’s for breakfast? Am I hungry? Do I have time to eat or do I eat in the car?”

Our minds are always making decisions through the day. Some are insignificant, others are life changing. “Do I believe in God?” That’s a life changing decision. “Should I ask her to marry me?” “Should I go to church every Sunday?” Some of our decisions have eternal consequences. How crazy is that. In the short 90 – 100 years that we live on earth we get to make some decisions that will affect our lives 10,000 years from now! That is insane to me.

The good news in that is that we have help! We have a God who is all knowing. God knows everything there is to know about you now and your future. How insane is that. I can’t even tell you what I want for dinner tomorrow night and God already knows all there is to know about me, my children and my grandkids. I am saying it like this, so we all understand how big God is. Sometimes we make God small so we can better understand Him, but He is big, and we will never know or understand everything about Him, but we can lay hold of what He has revealed. One of those things is that He knows absolutely everything about everything and everyone.

What does this have to do with our decision making? I am glad you asked. Psalms 139:1-5 says, “Lord, you know everything there is to know about me. You perceive every movement of my heart and soul, and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind. You are so intimately aware of me, Lord. You read my heart like an open book and you know all the words I’m about to speak before I even start a sentence!

You know every step I will take before my journey even begins. You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. You have laid your hand on me! This is just too wonderful, deep, and incomprehensible! Your understanding of me brings me wonder and strength.”

Just how wonderful is God? The last verses speak of God going into our future and preparing a way because He is – Omnipresent! The rest speaks of how He knows and understands us. Think about that for a second. God knows your thoughts before you have even thought them! He knows what decision you are going to make before you make it. Now you may be wondering, why does He let us make stupid decisions? Because we have free will.

There are so many Christians who do not involve God in their decision making and I don’t mean asking Him, “Lord what should I eat for breakfast this morning?” I am talking real life decisions. Life changing decisions. “Do I date this man?” “Do I go to this church which is closer and more convenient to me or drive an hour to that other church You showed me?” “How do I respond in this situation instead of reacting?” “Is this an ungodly soul tie and how do I break it?”

How many of us are asking God to help us make the right decisions? Are we assuming that because we are saved, we are going to automatically start making “saved decisions”? Because that is not true. We need Holy Spirit in our ear like, “Do no answer the phone past 9:00pm.” “Do not go to that place you were invited tomorrow, stay home.” Sometimes we listen but we are expecting to hear there was an earthquake at that place so we can be like oh that’s what God was rescuing me from. But 99% of the time it is not like that. Everyone who went had a good time, now you’re thinking, “So why did I stay home?” Because God said so and God is all knowing. God knows things we do not know. Traps that the devil has been laying for generations. He knows and He tries His best to help us, if we would only listen.

Daniel 2:22 says, “He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.” Psalm 147:5 says, “How great is our God! There’s absolutely nothing his power cannot accomplish, and he has infinite understanding of everything.” God understands and knows everything there is to know about everything. Earth, Jupiter, the sun, the stars (which He knows by name), the oceans and every creature in them, the world and everything in it both seen and unseen. God knows everything. Now, why would we not turn to Him and ask for help with our decisions? Help with our jobs and whatever situations we face?

God wants to reveal things to us, but we must take the step towards Him. James 4:8 says, “Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you. But make sure you cleanse your life, you sinners, and keep your heart pure and stop doubting.” You want to hear more from the all-knowing God? Repent and draw near to Him.

He wants to speak to you about you and so much more. He knows everything. The things that hurt you. Why you are the way you are. He knows it all and He wants to heal you and make you whole and help you get to a future that is full of hope and His goodness. God knows everything there is to know about you and yet, He still loves you deeply and eternally. Now, that’s amazing grace.

Love and blessings,

Melissa Tsingano.
