We have been talking about women in positions of authority in the church. As the church we should be at the forefront of championing each other, male or female, and submitting to each other in love and honoring all in authority regardless of gender. Which is why we need to make sure that we bring our thoughts, our opinions our ideas under submission to God.
2 Corinthians 5:10 says, “We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” It is pride that says, I am not going to listen to you because you are a woman, a man, an Asian, black or white. Our genetic makeup neither validates nor invalidates the work of the Holy Spirit in us.
So if you are someone who has been holding back from being who God has called you to be because you are not sure what it will look like, or you are afraid of what people may think, I’ll say this; no one ever knows what it will look like that’s why we need faith and there will always be nay sayers. God is cheering you on, so get up and be who God has called you to be.
If God is calling you to start a business, start the business. If God is calling you to do a vlog start the vlog. God believes in women not just in the confines of church but in all areas of influence. Whatever God is calling you to, go do that. Make sure you are submitted to authority and trust those in leadership over you to make things happen in God’s timing.
I’ll say this, this message on women is not meant to put men down or say women are better than men, no! We are not in competition with one another. Men and women together complete the image of God in the earth. No one person has it all. No one church or gender or culture or race has it all. Together, in unity, we each carry an important part of God.
Philippians 2:3-5 says, “Be free from pride-filled opinions, for they will only harm your cherished unity. Don’t allow self-promotion to hide in your hearts, but in authentic humility put others first and view others as more important than yourselves. Abandon every display of selfishness. Possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests. And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation.”
What this means is that we are to walk in humility and serve each other. We are not going to put others down or step over people to get promoted. We wait and trust God to put us where we need to be when we need to be there. When God gives us an open door of opportunity, we need to be bold enough to walk through it and take it as an opportunity to better serve those around us.
Jesus had every right to come to earth and look at all of us and tell us we are beneath Him, but He didn’t. He instead walked with people, ate with people, talked to people, became one of us. If we truly want to do something for God and make a difference, we need to be willing to walk with people, talk with people, eat with people and serve people.
Whatever area in the church or outside the church that God calls you to serve in, it is always about people. Which is why we need to have the love of God flowing in our hearts so we can share that same love to those around us.
Love and blessings,
Melissa Tsingano.
