Omnipresent

Last week we started talking about Holy Spirit. In the beginning, in Genesis 1:1-2, we see Holy Spirit hovering over the deep dark waters right before creation. What I love about God is how important every detail is in the Bible. Genesis 1 gives an account of creation. Genesis 2 takes its time explaining exactly how God created Adam and Eve.

God does not give that much detail about how He made the fish in the sea or the animals. He didn’t even name anything. He gave that job to mankind, His precious ones. But God dedicated a whole chapter in the story of creation telling us how we came into the picture and how God prepared a place for Adam (human beings). He didn’t just drop him in the middle of nowhere. Genesis 2:8 says, “Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made.” God loves us so much. He personally planted a garden so we would have a beautiful place to live. Now that’s just beautiful. Anyway, I digress.

Now, what we know from reading the Bible is that Papa God has not left His throne in heaven. We also know that Jesus left heaven for a season, to come redeem mankind on earth and die on the cross. He resurrected from the dead, finished the work of redemption, and ascended back to heaven to sit on the right-hand side of Papa God in heaven.

Where is Holy Spirit?  The simple answer to that is that Holy Spirit is everywhere. Holy Spirit is the omnipresent part of God. He is everywhere all at the same time. That is why we can be in a church service, and we all have different but powerful encounters with God all at the same time.

Holy Spirit is everywhere. Inside time and outside time. That is mind boggling. But in this life, we are in time, when we die, we become eternal and we step outside time. Holy Spirit is not “trapped” in time. Holy Spirit exists in and outside of time. Holy Spirit is God and is cool like that.

Holy Spirit is everywhere. Jeremiah 23:23-24 NLT says, “Am I a God who is only close at hand?” says the Lord. “No, I am far away at the same time. Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the Lord.”

King David put it this way in Psalm 139:7-12 “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol [hell], behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, and the light around me will be night,” even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.”

Holy Spirit is everywhere. I find that very comforting. I am never alone. Holy Spirit is always with me.

I’ll finish with the Message Translation of Hebrews 13:5 which says, “Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote,God is there, ready to help I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?

Love and blessings,

Melissa Tsingano.
