He is talking to us.

Last week we talked about how the 10 virgins were all representative of Christians. Jesus was not talking about people out there who don’t believe in Him. He was talking about us. Are we part of the wise or foolish virgins is the question. In case you think nah, that’s not right, we looked at Matthew 24:12 which talked about how in the end times, close to His coming, the love of many would grow cold. For love to grow cold, there must be some love to begin with.

In case you still think, meh still not sure, lol. Matthew 25 starts off by saying, “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.” Jesus is talking about the Kingdom of Heaven. We know the unsaved are not part of the Kingdom of Heaven for they have not been rescued or saved from the kingdom of darkness. Colossians 1:12-13 says, “For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.” Who is “us”? The saved, the ones who have been rescued, Christians. So we, Christians, form part of the Kingdom of Heaven and Jesus is talking about us.

The reason I am emphasizing this is because we have a lot of people who “identify as Christian” who are not walking or living like Christians. The true mark of a Christian is that you have laid down your life for the cause of Christ. You have laid down your wants and desires and have picked up your cross to follow Jesus. You have decided to actively be part of the Bride of Christ, which is the Church.

If you are not part of any church and are just doing what feels right to you and doing you, when the bridegroom comes, when Jesus returns, you may be counted with the foolish virgins and be left behind. If you are casual about your relationship with Jesus, He is going to be just as casual when He comes back for His bride and won’t look twice.

Revelations 3:15-16 says, “I know all that you do, and I know that you are neither frozen in apathy nor fervent with passion.  How I wish you were either one or the other! But because you are neither cold nor hot, but lukewarm, I am about to spit you from my mouth.” In simple terms, pick a side. If you are a casual Christian, you run the risk of being lukewarm and being spat out or left behind in the rapture. God says either you are for me or against me, which is it?

James 4:4 puts it this way, “You have become spiritual adulterers who are having an affair, an unholy relationship with the world. Don’t you know that flirting with the world’s values places you at odds with God? Whoever chooses to be the world’s friend makes himself God’s enemy!” God has been very clear about what He expects from us as His children. We have a choice to make. Do we want to be obedient to our heavenly Father or do we want to still see what the world has to offer and try get the best of both worlds? Because if you are going with option B, you are walking a fine line.

If Jesus comes back today, are you sure that He will be taking you with Him? Prayerfully ask, Jesus, if you come back today, will I be raptured? If the answer is no, chances are you already know what you need to do to get right with Jesus. God is super obvious and very direct when He wants you to do something. We are the ones who pretend like we don’t know, because we don’t want to do it. Now is not the time to pretend we don’t know what God is asking us to do. Now is the time to put to action all the things God has asked us to do and align ourselves with His word.

Jesus is coming back for His bride. Are you part of the bride? Are you committed, sold out, full of passion and zeal and in love with Jesus? It’s time we ask ourselves the hard questions. World events are pointing towards the return of Jesus. I would rather err on the side of over prepared for the return of Christ and doing too much than be found lukewarm and spat out.

Love and blessings,

Melissa Tsingano.
