The Name above all

Romans 10:13 tells us that, “For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”” The word “saved” is the Greek word sozo and it means to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger and destruction, to save a suffering one from perishing, i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health, preserve etc.

Let me be clear that this is something that is available to everyone. We can all call on the Name of the Lord in this season and we will be saved. The Name of the Lord spoken of is the Name of Jesus. Philippians 2:9-11 puts it this way, “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

There is no other name higher or stronger or more powerful than the Name of our beautiful Saviour, Jesus. Anything that has been named, its name is inferior to and less powerful than the Name of Jesus. The name of corona or covid-19 is inferior to the Name of Jesus. The name of cancer, diabetes, any name you can think of, it is inferior to the Name of Jesus and at the Name of Jesus, every knee must bow. He doesn’t even need to show up, the moment His Name is spoken, demons tremble. Sickness and disease must bow. Jesus is Lord over all.

There is no reason to be afraid in this time and season. We have a Name that we can call that is far greater than fear, far greater than sickness, far greater than isolation, loneliness, sorrow or grief. Not to say sorrow and grief don’t have their place because they do. If you have lost loved ones in this season, I may not know or understand what you are going through but God does and He is a great Comforter. We must allow God to comfort us and not let grief and sorrow consume us in this time. We can’t allow ourselves to despair of life but instead let us turn to God and ask Him to help us in our time of trouble.

As much as there was a time before the corona a time shall come after the corona and all this will be a distant memory. We must keep pressing and keep believing and keep calling on the Name that is powerful enough to save us and keep us in this season so we can make it to the other side.

Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.” We have a safe place where we can hide. We have a strong tower in whom we can hide. When we call His Name, He overwhelms the very things that try to overwhelm us and He brings them to their knees. He is God and He is powerful.

God can and He will preserve us. He is good, even in this season He is good. His Name is both a weapon and a defence. Let us learn to use it and use it wisely in this season. He is able to keep us safe and sound and if we find ourselves or loved ones sick, He is able to bring us healing and restoration and keep us from perishing. He loves us and He has given us His Name. The Name that is higher than any other Name. The Name that saves. The Name of Jesus. Call on His Name and you will be saved.

Love and blessings
